Winter may be closing in, but for those planning an escape to the warmer temperatures of the Northern Hemisphere, it's time to start shopping for a Euro summer wardrobe.

And while those lucky jetsetters may get to press pause on the daily grind for a few weeks, you know what doesn't take a vacation? Your menstrual cycle.

Planning your beachwear can take some consideration and forward planning if your period is due, but a new collection of anti-leak swimwear is changing the game and eliminating that concern for women.

Modibodi, already beloved by Australian women for their industry-leading period underwear, has launched an innovative new range of period-proof swimwear made from recycled ocean waste.

The groundbreaking collection has been created in partnership with environmental organisation SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, who transform marine litter into high-quality textiles.

The SEAQUAL adult and teen swimwear edit offers bikinis, one pieces and tankinis in two different prints, Tidal and Marine Dream.

The absorbency levels range from light, holding 20mls (the equivalent of four tampons), up to super, holding 50mls (10 tampons), ensuring everyone can enjoy swimming worry-free, no matter what day of your cycle it is.

The pioneering swimsuit design sees plastic recovered from the oceans, rivers and coastline by SEAQUAL broken down into pellets, spun into yarn, and crafted into Modibodi's exclusive swimwear fabric.

The Tidal design is an electric blue python digital print, available in a $100.99 string-back one piece with a Light absorbency, or a $55.99 triangle bikini top with either a high-leg or cheeky cut bikini bottom in a Super absorbency, both $59.99.

The bikini top and cheeky bikini bottom is also sold as a set for $98.58.

The teen-focused Marine Dream design is a pink 'Tropicana Crush' print featuring flora and marine animals, offering a one piece, $98.99, or tankini top, $43.99, with either high-waist brief, $54.99, or regular cut bikini brief, $43.99, or high-waist shorts, $55.99, in both light and super absorbencies.

The tankini and high-waist brief is also sold as a set for $84.98.

'We're proud to join SEAQUAL in their effort to fight plastic pollution,' Kerry Cusack, Executive Director of the B-Corp certified Modibodi, said.

'Together, we're transforming marine litter into a fabric that supports our mission -reducing single-use period products like tampons and pads and creating beautiful garments that drive sustainable change.'

The companies have joined forces in an effort to tackle the issue of ocean pollution: an estimated 94 per cent of ocean plastic sinks to the seafloor.

'SEAQUAL is a great choice of fabric for Modibodi, with it being certified recycled through GRS and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 free from harmful chemicals,' Sarah Forde, Head of Sustainability, said.

'We look to choose fabrics and work with suppliers who do more than provide a beautiful fabric but align with our values of creating additional positive impact, which Sequal Initiative provides.
